Hours 15 and 16

I tweaked the boss battles, and added two new screens. One is a simple challenge where you have to jump over bullets --- the other is a boss battle with a guy I call Heart Shan.

DEMO Released!

During hours 13 and 14, I polished up the game so far, added a little platforming challenge (w/ a song), and got it ready to be released as a demo.

Now you can download the demo off of my website! Check it out!

Be warned --- the game is kind of difficult. That's just the kind of game it is. (shrug) :P

Hours 10, 11, and 12

I finished up my world design document. After that, I worked exclusively on sound.

I made three little songs that play when you enter a screen. Here are some mp3's for ya:

Room 1
Rozkii
Singer

I also made sound effects, and put them and the music into the game.

Hour 9

I spent some time designing the layout of the game world. It was surprisingly time consuming, since I want it to be just right. I haven't finished it completely yet.

Hours 7 and 8

I spent most of this time making animations for the player, and making it so they play properly when you move him around. Here's his running animation:

And here's how it looks in-game:

Hours 5 and 6

I made another boss. His name is Singer.

Most of the time, he just sorta zooms by in a blur. If you time it right, you can jump on him, and for a moment you get to see what he actually looks like.

Hours 3 and 4

I spent some time making a little boss. I call him "rozkii". He flies around randomly shooting bullets at you. If you jump on his head, you'll take one of his limbs, and his attacks become a little more desperate.

CTSW is supposed to have at least 10 bosses. Hopefully I can still manage that --- even though this one took a couple hours, other ones may be quicker and simpler than him. I just wanted rozkii to be special because he appeared in my dreams.

Hour 2 completed

I worked mostly on scenery this hour. These two screens basically show what I got accomplished. It's not much, but I think it looks nice.

Interesting fact: pretty much all I have of CTSW so far was designed in my sleep (i.e. it just sorta appeared to me in my dreams). These screens look pretty close to how they did in my dreams, so I'm happy about that.

Hour 1 completed

I just got done working on CTSW for an hour. Here's what my test level looks like currently:

The only artwork that is semi-permanent here is the gradient background and the overall shadow-style.

The player object is capable of jumping, running up walls, wall-jumping, and ceiling-clinging.

That's about all I've got for now, check back later for further updates
